Events To Look Forward To In September

The sun is setting sooner, the evenings are getting cooler, and patio season is coming to a close. Yes, summer is ending next month, but that doesn’t mean Toronto is ready for hibernation. We know how to make the most of any season, and fall can be just as busy for the City as summer is. 

September will take us from shorts and sandals to sweaters and boots, iced coffees to warm lattes, and it will bring Torontonians a lot of exciting things to see and do. Here is a list of the events we’re most looking forward to next month:

Canadian National Exhibition
August 21 - September 7


The Canadian National Exhibition (CNE) has been open since last week, but the fun doesn’t end until the last day of the Labour Day weekend. The annual Canadian International Air Show is always a fan favourite, but the over-the-top carnival food draws in a sizeable crowd of adventurous foodies as well. Check the CNE’s website for daily events and deals.  

Toronto International Film Festival
September 10 - 20


Downtown Toronto is invaded by some of the most well-known actors and celebrities every September. The Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) is as much for stargazers as it is for movie buffs. Planning is crucial, and the earlier you buy tickets the better. Screenings will take place at the Scotiabank Theatre, Roy Thomson Hall and of course the TIFF Bell Lightbox Theatre.

FL42 brings a collection of the funniest, most riveting and relevant comedians to Toronto and sets them loose for a 10-day period. See popular headliners including Trevor Noah, John Mulaney and Bill Burr as well as 42 other amazing comedy acts.

Toronto Cider Festival
September 26


What fruit says fall better than apples? It only makes sense that the Toronto Cider Festival take place in September. Sample an assortment of Canada’s best hard ciders while enjoying live music, entertainment and food. This event will be held at the easily accessible Yonge-Dundas Square. 

Food Truck Festival Ontario
September 27

Food Truck Festival Ontario is taking place at Downsview Park and will have over 30 food trucks at the event. Imagine Coachella, but “Foodchella”! Vegetarian and vegan options will be available, and children under 13 get in for free.
